Concerts?

Post by bohonato » July 11th, 2006, 2:30 pm

This summer I'm (planning on) going to
* CCR (backstage passes!)
*Summer of Ska (Voodoo Glow Skulls, Big D and the Kid's Table, Catch-22, Suburban Legends, and Westbound Train)
*Bob Dylan (2.5 hour drive, but worth it.)
and sadly I can't make The Flaming Lips show in Detroit. Skydiving.

Woweee
Sounds like a great summer
I would drive two and a half hours in a Michigan blizzard to see and hear Mr Zimmerman live.

I wish I could hear "Its all over now baby blue" right now. I wish I could play it for my baby sister when she comes over later.

On a jazz note..it's been a real Coltrane summer...starting with a duet featuring Ravi Coltrane on Sax...Followed by an inspirational evening with McCoy Tyner....and as the strawberry on the sundae ....a mind bending experience with Pharoah Sanders...teamed up with Kenny Garrett

CCR was amazing, even though they're lacking Fogerty. It was raining Friday when I went to see them, and where it was at (DTE/Pine Knob) there's this giant hill that constitutes the lawn seats. This usually grassy hill transformed into a somewhat muddy hill in some parts. To make a short story shorter, alcohol and pot caused some people to feel the urge to get naked and slide down the hill in the mud.

The great thing about DTE/Pine Knob is that they have $5 -10 lawn tickets, so now I'm going to Journey and The Doobie Brothers. The Doobies are great live, especially since everyone seems to be smoking one.

I'd love to go see Roger Waters live (Pink Floyd is one of my favourite bands) but I'm moving to the other side of Michigan the last week in August.

Steely Dan will be withing striking distance for me the end of the month or so...always dug their sound-never saw them as they weren't really a toruing band--but the reports I'm reading relay that they are putting on a good show.
