i know nothing about it. You can't even get into it to look at it and see how it works unless you sign up for it.
Just wondering what it is.
I hear about it on the news all the time. It's a widely used site.
Even Obama's camp has mentioned Twitter.
What happens there? Does anybody use it? How does it work?
Is it like facebook? or?

friends who 'twitter' also 'twitter' on facebook. Once i'm on facebook, i already know who's stuck in traffic, who's typing just because they can, and who is alive.
It's all information.
i wouldn't twitter - i feel degenerate enough facebooking. i like being invisible except when i want to be.
but i text message with a cell. when it rings, i don't necessarily have to answer, but i like being able to read or send a text messages. E-mails hardly make a dent with a lot of people, but text messages seem to stimulate response.
instant messaging on the go - small planet, faster than a phone call, twitter makes sense for people who like those mini-seconds of contact with their friends too far away to visit.

Ohhh... I see. Well thank you all for the info! Interesting. I donno why anyone would want to just do the status thing over and over when facebook offers so much more!
jack, the article you posted was very informative.
judih, i think you summarized the 21st century electronic contact age quite well!
