I should'a taken my own advise and bowed out. Shows how smart I am.

The only common ground here is not here.

The sky is just not the earth's atmosphere it includes the galaxies and every thing else.
And we are in the sky, just as much as Lucy..
I choose door number 3. the celestial regions...The accepted definition of 'sky' says -
1. The expanse of air over any given point on the earth; the upper atmosphere as seen from the earth's surface.
2. The appearance of the upper atmosphere, especially with reference to weather. Often used in the plural: Threatening skies portend a storm.
3. The celestial regions; the heavens: stars in the southern sky.
4. The highest level or degree: reaching for the sky.

Yesterday I had a customer ask an interesting question: which are your biggest customers, rockhounds or people into the stones’ energies? I believe the answer is the latter. His comment back was, “that just goes to show where our country is at.” My first reaction to his response was that he was coming from a negative, judgmental place. Many people put down others who are into metaphysics, believing them to be “airy/fairy,” “healy/feely” or basically, in other words, silly. I didn’t want to get into it with him for fear of starting a conversation that would go nowhere. People that are negative and judgmental are mostly closed minded. However, what if he meant something more like, “many people in this country are searching for something that can help them, take them away from their daily concerns and give them hope?” I pray that was more along the lines he was thinking. What do you think he meant?
Originally, I created The Fossil Cartel as not blatantly metaphysical. I didn’t want to put off people who were not into that kind of thing. Through the years, though, I’ve noticed that the majority of customers actually ask about the healing properties of stones. So I began promoting the metaphysical side through signage, advertising and point-of-purchase literature. We’ve always had reference books available for research and for sale and a great many of our customers use them. Melody’s Love Is In The Earth sold thousands upon thousands of copies and now Judy Hall’s The Crystal Bible has taken the lead.
If someone were to ask me which group of people is our biggest customer, I would have to say the general public. But here is a list of subgroups from largest to smallest: jewelry buyers, gift buyers, collectors, people interested in the healing properties, rockhounds and children.
I believe the main reason we attract the general public is because we have many affordable items which:
1.Will never go out of style
2.Are aesthetically appealing
3.Will never lose their value
4.Are made out of natural materials
5.Connect people with the Earth/Nature
I guess our customer base is always evolving, but after twenty years, this is where we are, and we always welcome all types of people! As always, our mission is to share our love of stones in a gracious and fun environment.

I come to your store because I’m a rockhound and you have people in your staff who are very knowledgeable about local rockhounding. More power to ‘em, but metaphysics is not my bag.
And when one realizes this is true for all, one has achieved a new level of understanding with which to open their world to grand possiblity.Listen Barry. "There is only one way. Your way."
