 I am about as revered as a toads foot.

I should'a taken my own advise and bowed out. Shows how smart I am.

The sky is just not the earth's atmosphere it includes the galaxies and every thing else.

And we are in the sky, just as much as Lucy..

The accepted definition of 'sky' says -
1. The expanse of air over any given point on the earth; the upper atmosphere as seen from the earth's surface.
2. The appearance of the upper atmosphere, especially with reference to weather. Often used in the plural: Threatening skies portend a storm.
3. The celestial regions; the heavens: stars in the southern sky.
4. The highest level or degree: reaching for the sky.
I choose door number 3. the celestial regions...

I guess I was thinking of the night sky Cecil. " it sure seems farther than sixty two miles"

I think we need to keep in mind that the earth is hanging in the sky, the sky is under our feet just twelve thousand miles or so.
And we spiraling through space on our way towards Vela.

So much for cosmic consciousness.

I used to like Quaker meetings cause there are no preachers. Kind of zen like, spontaneous. People just sitting around in silence waiting and once in a while the spirit will move someone to get up and speak.

I think the moral of the story is... all roads lead home... and though a
map might be handy, it is not really necessary.

Yes a star map.

velvet night
without wind,
only flow

great --
cosmic --
flow

aligned
attuned
in the groove
in the zone

stars,
deep sky objects,
false crosses, and
us

flowing
toward Vela...

Frm the www.fossilcartel.com blogs:
What Did He Mean By That?
Yesterday I had a customer ask an interesting question: which are your biggest customers, rockhounds or people into the stones’ energies? I believe the answer is the latter. His comment back was, “that just goes to show where our country is at.” My first reaction to his response was that he was coming from a negative, judgmental place. Many people put down others who are into metaphysics, believing them to be “airy/fairy,” “healy/feely” or basically, in other words, silly. I didn’t want to get into it with him for fear of starting a conversation that would go nowhere. People that are negative and judgmental are mostly closed minded. However, what if he meant something more like, “many people in this country are searching for something that can help them, take them away from their daily concerns and give them hope?” I pray that was more along the lines he was thinking. What do you think he meant?

Originally, I created The Fossil Cartel as not blatantly metaphysical. I didn’t want to put off people who were not into that kind of thing. Through the years, though, I’ve noticed that the majority of customers actually ask about the healing properties of stones. So I began promoting the metaphysical side through signage, advertising and point-of-purchase literature. We’ve always had reference books available for research and for sale and a great many of our customers use them. Melody’s Love Is In The Earth sold thousands upon thousands of copies and now Judy Hall’s The Crystal Bible has taken the lead.

If someone were to ask me which group of people is our biggest customer, I would have to say the general public. But here is a list of subgroups from largest to smallest: jewelry buyers, gift buyers, collectors, people interested in the healing properties, rockhounds and children.

I believe the main reason we attract the general public is because we have many affordable items which:

1.Will never go out of style
2.Are aesthetically appealing
3.Will never lose their value
4.Are made out of natural materials
5.Connect people with the Earth/Nature
I guess our customer base is always evolving, but after twenty years, this is where we are, and we always welcome all types of people! As always, our mission is to share our love of stones in a gracious and fun environment.

I come to your store because I’m a rockhound and you have people in your staff who are very knowledgeable about local rockhounding. More power to ‘em, but metaphysics is not my bag.
All the best places to land do have many angles of approach. More than one, at least.

Last night at dinner I had an interesting conversation about Truth with my brother-in-law. He said, "Truth is not known; it's experienced," explaining that a swami that came to his church said this. I said, "And each individual's experience of Truth is unique."
He and I smiled at each other.
We were both in complete agreement.
The only thing I might have added is, "...and equally valid."
But I didn't think of it at the time.
The conversation went on into people trying to share their experience of Truth with others, and how dogma often arises in that endeavor, because of the uniqueness of each individual experience.
It can get a little confusing.

Peace,
Barry

Listen Barry. "There is only one way. Your way."
And when one realizes this is true for all, one has achieved a new level of understanding with which to open their world to grand possiblity.

Ego is the problem, Jack. I only bring mine out in times like these, when I feel the validity of my own unique experience of truth challenged. And my ego serves me well in those times. Mostly I keep it tucked away. If you knew me in the flesh, not on the internet, you'd know that.

Peace,
Barry

Let me try that again
Yes this is all so superficial. I am sure I would it would be different if we were to meet. Meanwhile
I would dig hearing your music sometime barry. Clay speakes highly of it. But I don't think I have heard you.

I am going to try and stay off the boards for a while, stick to my little artlog. Give this a rest. I don't think I will be reading any more creative posts for a while. Geocities is shutting down and I am about to loose all my shit there. I got a lot to do if I expect to write the great american hyper trash novel before I die.

so long for awhile

Jack, you're getting this Barry confused with Barry Gremillion who is an old friend of Lightning Rod's and was also the location director for "The Doors" movie and was stage manager for one of our Cabaradio shows.

http://barrygremillion.com

Totally different person. Barry Gremillion is a song composer and musician, yes. He is old enough to be this Barry's father, probably. Just guessing.

Anyway, sorry to butt in but just wanted to clarify the mistaken ID.

You can hear quite a bit of Barry Gremillion's music on his website here
http://www.barrygremillion.com/music.html

Also, I've used a piece of his on every Radio8 show, I think

....

Barry, sorry to interrupt your thread.

Barry, sorry to interrupt your thread.
I've never had an issue with the "hijacking" of threads, Doreen. Never bothers me in the least. In fact, I love discussions most when they go all over the map. I'll have to check out this other Barry. :)

Peace,
Barry
