please come
if you show up
and find me under the car with only my legs protruding
& a banging noise going on
it won't be because i'm trying to fix something
but trying to tear something away that's broken
& don't worry about the alien music in the streets
trying to pass itself off as
a proper breakfast just as
the stars go down
then click! - a photograph - black & white
of a girl
with thin lips unhidden
by fall of hair
the tops of teeth peeking
behind the lips...
... i wonder what other poets
would have done with a girl
whose face was like that
they might have found a haiku moment
a whole new land or maybe
a continent even
or trees waking up
beginning to speak
to each other
as the turtles
still sleep
snugged in deep mud
just beneath the bottom
