my knees ache
my hips throb
they're wearing out
I wish it was from too much dancing
not from too many work miles
from the journey of locomotive breath
the documentation
a man always on the chase for a buck
no, never been a hunter
chasin' down a dream
these pains, they mean
I did something
could have been more I guess
but I won't quibble
with fictional representations
my knees ache, my hips throb
my heart is content
I know the reasons why
my knees ache
my knees ache
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
you may end up where you are heading
Re: my knees ache
Ha! wish it was that way too - but what the hell how are any of us to rightly reckon our place in the scheme of things at at given point - that kind of wisdom is not give us nor can we have it by wanting it or searching for it - we all do good in ways we did not intend or even know about -I wish it was from too much dancing
not from too many work miles
from the journey of locomotive breath

Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

Re: my knees ache
But----with the pain----"my heart is content" is the key.
my knees ache, my hips throb
my heart is content
I know the reasons why
I like the writing. It communicates---gets to the heart of life in society, civilization, history. So much writing obfuscates; your poem clarifies.
