my knees ache

Post by saw » February 24th, 2015, 10:29 am

my knees ache
my hips throb
they're wearing out

I wish it was from too much dancing
not from too many work miles
from the journey of locomotive breath

the documentation
a man always on the chase for a buck
no, never been a hunter

chasin' down a dream
these pains, they mean
I did something

could have been more I guess
but I won't quibble
with fictional representations

my knees ache, my hips throb
my heart is content
I know the reasons why
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Ha! wish it was that way too - but what the hell how are any of us to rightly reckon our place in the scheme of things at at given point - that kind of wisdom is not give us nor can we have it by wanting it or searching for it - we all do good in ways we did not intend or even know about -

Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

But----with the pain----"my heart is content" is the key.

my knees ache, my hips throb
my heart is content
I know the reasons why

I like the writing. It communicates---gets to the heart of life in society, civilization, history. So much writing obfuscates; your poem clarifies.
