sorry, I wasn't paying attention

Post by saw » August 28th, 2016, 12:15 pm

my ego is withering
like an ancient red oak
my bark is faint, I leave
rather than waste time
fighting with another
decrepit highwayman
with exaggerated tales
of heroism and conquest
Sorry , my brother
What did you say ?
I wasn't paying attention
my thoughts were aboard
a magic carpet flying low
across the glassy lake
I'm sorry Madam
i was busy smiling at geese
What was that you said ?
You're angry about my clothing ?
why i would wear a clown suit to church
Honk Honk, says my big red nose
What did you say ? huh...my lapel
flower squirted you in the eye ?
Dear Me
I wasn't really paying attention
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Yes, some one asked me about the election, I said "what election?" the magic carpet flying low across the lake is wonderful , I will find my self among the spanish moss in our big oaks. very much appreciated how the poem caught the way I feel these days when I am at peace must remember to go there .

i like real rhthyum and blues
poetry - snapping my fingers
my ears whispering ' yeah yeah'
that,,,,,,,,,, caught my attention................................................................................................................. that funny feeling in the pit of your stomach
and i was not really paying attention
do you get it?
i could have missed the whole thing,,,,,,,,
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---
