2 works in progress - pink maiden & kinder-garden

Post by Doreen Peri » October 24th, 2005, 12:21 am

are they done yet? greatest thing about canvases is you can paint right on top of them if ya don't like it. lol.... i never know when it's finished and i often work on it way too long and ruin the darn thing. *sigh* ... thanks for looking

i saw these first over at AC, and here i'm looking again and i find pink maiden to simply dance from where she's hanging. Such rhythm and music emanate from her.

kindergarten is a little less kinesthetic - more still life-ish.

both are good. Both exciting. (and they go with my couch! - sorry - that's a door-to-door painting salesperson's inside joke)

I like the undulating form, and the threads and ropes of color that seem to be migrating toward the head in "Pink Maiden."

hehe.... thanks, Zlatko... I'm giggling because "the threads and ropes of color that seem to be migrating toward the head" are *supposed* to be her hair. Her hair is supposed to be the entire background. hahahahaha

Damn... I'm not too good at this yet.... but I'm working on it... (until I decide to give up which may happen soon because I'm not sure this is my media).... I've discovered a few things. I need to designate a brush for every color. I'm using water with the acrylics. Some brushes hold more water and paint than others and you can't rinse it out quickly enough. I need to paint 2 or 3 paintings at a time because of the drying time necessary. I'm painting on the floor on top of newspapers. I have an easel but I'm way too sloppy for that. I need more space. I need a HUGE room for doing this work. Probably a warehouse. A room where I can splatter paint everywhere and it won't matter. ;) Plus, I need large... very large canvases. The Pink Maiden is something like 14 x 18.... I need canvases twice as large as this. ;) At least. Plus (and this is a big plus), I need 6 more hours tacked onto every day because if I'm going to do this, I need that much time every day to work on developing some semblance of skills. :)

I think I'm going to turn the one on the top into something else entirely.

Thanks for looking!

No doubt you know the painter's joke about acrylic, Doreen:

Acrylic has a great advantage-- it dries quickly.

Acrylic has a great disadvantage-- it dries quickly.

Good painting wishes,

Zlatko

I like the thread-munchy-pink-maiden!
The first one is very empty for being a kinder-garden, but that´s the first impression. With a second look it´s seems a good idea!

"kinder-garden" reminds me of Jackson Pollack. Were as "pink maiden" reminds me that it sort of has that Willem De Kooning style. Great paintings love them!!!! :D

I printed a copy of your clown painting, have it up above my meditation cushion on one of my bookshelves.

I like the first abstraction it has a lot of spatial fun with swoops and curves.

the second one os a feminine edvaard munch, the dark side unearthed, I AM WOMAN! have to admit, the breasts are scintillating!

Oh yes, I'd say they're beautifully complete. You artiste you!!! These would be delightful on my wall.

I see naked people. (invariably...sigh)

Just gorgeous, a feast for the eyes!
I used to walk with my head in the clouds but I kept getting struck by lightning!
Now my head twitches and I drool alot. Anonymouse
