home at last from the jewel mines
said goodbye to my buddhist amigo going home to stay awhile
they stayed in north beach sanfran
visited the city lights bookstore
his wife told me she don't like thhe word "palliative"
palliation is when there ain't no cure
you're trying to sustain life with some quality
and foor him iit has been a struggle
but he fought thru a lot
and basically emerged ok for awhile
"There's been a severe deficiency in diversity and as a result there's been a lack of sensitivity in many areas," said Rich Hanley, assistant professor of journalism at Quinnipiac University." I think the media is going to be more aggressive in this area. It must."
at our last staff meeting i spoke up for the nursing aides, who are undervalued and under-paid
the boss manager lady said
"it's a supply-demand issue"
i says what?
i had to go back again and elucidate about the value of the aides and indeed to state that the patient care technicians are professions as well, and that the nurses are really helpers to the aides.
she goes again, "but in the question of recruitment and retention, it becomes a supply and demand issue."
i am looking at my mates and mutter, "well that goes across the board."
the other nurses agree with me. The boss is not a floor nurse.
Then we dropped it.
I saw a film with Peter Faulk, wings of desire, by Wim Wenders
he is doing this docudrama about Berlin, and in his spare time, in the movie, he sketches.
He is looking at a person in the subway and says,
"there's an interesting drawing problem, that guy has eyes like a raccooon."
there's a guy with an ass like a babboon.
he's gonna shoot the moon
That's another thing that bugs me. People who blow through here only occasionally tend to lump the place into some convenient preconceived ideological cubbyhole and just start blasting away based on that preconception. Even among regulars, people will not always react to every topic in predictable ways. The correct way to enter a discussion is to simply make your point. Make it emphatically if necessary. One might even express incredulity in general terms as to how said point could possibly have been missing from the talk up to that point. But do not start ripping individual people in the discussion unless you know them well and that is your usual style of communication. See, that's what's wrong with so many of these sort of internet discussions (and why I said I'll try to retire from them a week or so ago). It just seems like there's always someone at some point who insists on hurling personal insults or some type of smear in "making their point". And that is, and shall always remain.... B.S.
that is the point that i need to be aware of
st has no reverence for anyone's initial intent
he will lather it with self-deprecating humor and wonderings
like
never saw his show
but sad to see him go
one time i posted a series of photos from a candlelight vigil we did
for the iraq war and dead american soldiers
a little lady was holding a photo of her son and an american flag
art guy said he was sick of the american flag
andi had sent the url link to my relatives
oops
you never know where these threads will go
may as well abide in groundlessness
with sensitivity and compassion
when the brew is stirring and passsions boiling
boiling cauldron
mesh and mix
add some empathy
make a wish
let it go
tumbling into the well
down to the underground stream
