u oculten mis deseos aquí / or hide my desires here

Post by joel » August 28th, 2007, 6:38 pm

Al gran oeste de Swansea seguí
Dylan Thomas— y la costa galés
no era más peligrosa que los
versos que me condujeron allí
y amenazado mi alma fue—
puramente, con valor, lo amé:
que poético, era algo más
y yo nunca deseó ir atrás—
por un valle verde, me enterré
por las imágenes vibrantes de
la belleza, envidiable si
es verdad. Di a fantasmas dos
ideas: déme mismo otra vez—
u oculte mis deseos aquí.

roughly:

To the great west of Swansea, I followed
Dylan Thomas— and the Welsh coast
was no more dangerous than the
verses that led me there
and threatened my soul was—
purely, with valor, I loved it.
Than poetic, I was something more
and I never wantd to go back.
By a green valley, I buried myself
by the vibrant images of
beauty, enviable if
it is the truth. I gave the ghosts two
ideas: give me myself again—
or hide my desires here.

Dylan Thomas!!! one of my icon-poets!!

this is the spanish version as it sounded in my head:

Hacia el gran oeste de Swansea, seguí
a Dylan Thomas— y la costa galesa
no era más peligrosa que los
versos que me condujeron allí
y amenazada mi alma fue—
puramente, con valor, lo amé:
tan poético, era algo más
y yo nunca deseé ir atrás—
por un valle verde, me enterré
por las imágenes vibrantes de
la belleza, envidiable si
fuera verdad. Di a los fantasmas dos
ideas: denme a mí mismo otra vez—
u oculten mis deseos aquí.

"y la costa galesa
no era más peligrosa que los
versos que me condujeron allí"

really liked that lines!!

Gracias, Arcadia! ?es posible como esto?--

El gran oeste de Swansea: seguí
a Dylan Thomas— su borde galés
no era más peligroso que los
versos que me condujeron allí
y amenazada mi alma fue—
puramente, con valor, lo amé:
tan poético, era algo más
y yo nunca deseé ir atrás—
por un valle verde, me enterré
por las imágenes vibrantes de
la belleza, envidiable si
fuera verdad. A los fantasmas dos
ideas di: quiero ser otra vez—
u oculten mis deseos aquí.

Nice work Joel - as always :D

especially loved the opening lines and the mention of DT, since your works remind me of him.
