Go ahead. Talk about it.

Yes, sir! That's what women are best at! Why should we keep trying to fool ourselves? You've totally convinced me. We're a talentless lot.

And so now that you've put women back several centuries, I best get to work finding a man who can support me so I can spend my days cooking for him and cleaning for him and servicing him in the bedroom.

Off to the pool!

Yes, the age old question. Is it either or? Many possible approaches.

in german, a poem is neuter.
poetry (whether translated as dichtung, or dichtkunst, or poesie) is female.

Well, Clay, I like that you carry women in your heart.
I see that as conceding somewhat to the error of your ways in this thread.
Indeed, Lrod, if you are a man, then yes I know you well, just as you know me, a woman, well, or do you?
Therefor, like the woman I am, I await a full apology to me, and to all of those whom you have offended here with your rather not well thought out presentation of whatever it was you were really wanting to put forth for us to ponder. I would much rather ponder than argue, I think that all of us here for the most part prefer that kind of discourse. Can we try to keep things ponderful instead of arguable on sensitive issues like these?? It's much more peaceful, and productive and creative when we ponder together, on an equal premises.
I know we can do this.
I also know you can drum up the strength to apologize too, despite how stubborn you are.

ok, (you know how I hate to do this,)
but I apologize

now let me explain, which is also against my rules

pondering can be ponderous

arguing gets things out in the open

I apologize for thinking
I apologize for trying to start a conversation
I apologize for stating an opinion

What else do I need to apologize for?
this is getting really easy

I see the poets are considering splitting up poetry.
And what does poetry itself have to say about that?
It's an either-or proposition, a numbers game.
Poetry is obsessed with either the either-or,
or subverting it. Let me count the riffs.
Let's take a poll.

"pondering can be ponderous

I apologize for thinking

Okay, I'm down with your apology....and accept.

(You state that pondering can be ponderous,
arguing gets things out in the open. Doncha think arguing can be arguous too? Do you think there is a difference between ponderous and argueous? I must confess I think the tones each set, are very different, but i'm open to rethinking that.)

I respect your opinion on this, but mine differs in that I think that arguing closes doors, whereas a pondering approach leaves them open.

As for apologizing for thinking, trying to start a conversation, and stating an opinion, I don't see this as necessary. You have every right to do these things and you can do these things without insulting folks and inciting anger to get attention. I've seen you do this before and have been quite impressed with your ability in this area.

Apologizing sans sniveling is always the cleanest, quickest way to resolve mistakes, which we all make, I mean we are human. Once we take our egos out of the equation, apologies are easier to come to grips with, as to when they are necessary or not. Believe me, I've apologized many times, many times I haven't. It's about picking your battles.....
