This was a contest entry for the "Allwrite Magazine~In the Dark" April Poetry contest. The winner gets published and this one finished in second place (don't know if this one will be published too, but sometimes the third and second place poems get published so...). The theme was fire and ice.

Spreading Ashes...Evermore

Drowning in a drunken, weary jigger makes this widow teary, As her liquored paces sway imbalanced limbs above the floor, Empty, yet with sorrow's struggle, tummy feeling kicks and bumbles, Now without youth's callow bubble as she paces through her door, Sparking old nostalgic troubles as she paces ...

"A Stage" thru Father Time's Looking Glass

Father Time's Perspective Walking on the distanced path of life: all ages stare, ever so still, at my constant strolling figure Different folks, different reactions, similar and equally different Reflections: Some single paned and not afraid of who they really are Unafraid of normalcy's lack of appe...

Okay, you need to start a new thread if you want to keep talking about that stuff, personally, I preferred your rhymes to this

Okay, good. Now that this argument seems settled, could we not talk about it anymore, please? Or at least not on this page, I'd personally rather read insults directed towards me on this post than read this old grudge match.

It's interesting (the lesson on Sonnets) but I was somewhat disappointed to see that she only listed three kinds of sonnets. I have learned in my Creative Writing class about a lot of sonnet types. These three are included, along with the French form (which has--I think--twelve syllables per line; t...

Curious; "(it's not a sonnet, though;))" How do you figure? I know that its layout is a little different than the typical: A B B A A B B A C D C D E E but that is just to blend together the acrostic message. I am still new to poetry, so I would appreciate it a great deal if you would fill me in on w...

Thanks for the critique. I don't know if you noticed but this is also an acrostic as well as a sonnet (thus, I had to limit myself as far as words were concerned) you are probably right about the 'ing' words though :D Thanks again for the critique and the kind introduction.

Bundled sticks fuse buckled wits into brooms

Bundled sticks fuse buckled wits into brooms Smitten with the breath manufactured toast Innermost tubes suckle pale sickly plumes Crystalling the flesh of a dying host Fingertips stain with the sweet residue Written from the grill of a thousand roasts Arteries strain, bringing chills to the blue Chi...

Always Low Prices-ALWAYS

Walking, homeless and all alone at three am, temperature low: thirty-two degrees; automatic doors hesitate upon my entrance-colliding with the glass always! Four quarters ring from my pocket into the till; the price for a shit-brick piece of Hershey, Pennsylvania made with love (and almonds): ninety...

Chips from Hade's Folly Grin

Man's fired embers dance in war Betrothed in passion, love and gore These reddened faces hissing speak Far more than Hades' ancient Greek When Waterloo saw cannons blow And Stalingrad still burned aglow Great tundra winds with Russian pace Bought victory with murd'rous grace Ice merely shrinks when ...

Psyche's Chestnut Halides

"Goddess of Love, your aim is off! Can't compassion replace that scoff?!" Old wings lie dead in satin greed. Thus love from you's a prize indeed! To see you in the dark, my dear makes crimson's pulsing pound with cheer while saddled to my chest, right here is Cupid's quivered arrow-spears. Though go...

Heart Cocktail

A day without you wrenches heart from breast N umb and stinging; wringing out it's essence I nto icy Smirnoff with coarse uncleansed S and paper hands still ripping at my chest S till screaming for a love that won't depart A s it's swallowed to soothe my aching neck I churn my warmth through acid o...

Cuckolding Flames in your Neglected Furnace

Enhance the warmth In the bowels of your neglected furnace Soaking your flammable brew Poke at the realm of toxic juices Drooling from pruned and tainted fruits Flush the pilot blue Ignite the hiss of labored breath Dancing in a trail of embers Choke the kiss of weary flames Dissolve my heap in that...
